Aligning Skills to Strategy
As firms, industries, and markets evolve, shifting needs for functional excellence can emerge suddenly. The firm needs to develop the appropriate skills in their functional professionals so that they realize their full contribution in the creation and delivery of the organization’s strategic goals. For example, many pharmaceutical firms need to quickly improve the ability of their staff to engage in more sophisticated marketing strategies and tactics in light of changes in the healthcare industry. Or, with increasing emphasis on shareholder value, many firms find that their managers need a deeper understanding of financial management and the ways in which their individual decisions influence the firm’s value.
